Day-by-Day Itinerary

This plan covers the essentials without burnout. Adjust based on opening hours, weather, and your stamina. Most days are 4–6 hours of activity with long meals and downtime built in.

Day 1Arrival + Red

Settle into your hotel, grab a light lunch, then ease into Delhi with Red Fort + Chandni Chowk food walk. Don't overbook day one — jet lag is real.

Day 2Humayun's Tomb (the Taj

Humayun's Tomb (the Taj Mahal's blueprint, far fewer crowds). Pair it with a sit-down lunch nearby and an evening walk through a different neighbourhood.

Day 3Last day in Delhi

Hit one final must-see (Humayun's Tomb (the Taj Mahal's blueprint, far fewer crowds)), pick up souvenirs, and leave time for a relaxed lunch before your flight or onward train.

Delhi survival tips

🚇 Transport

The Delhi Metro is clean, cheap and beats traffic — buy a tourist smart card. Use Uber/Ola, never unmetered autos.

🍽 Food

Eat parathas at Paranthe Wali Gali in Chandni Chowk and Mughlai at Karim's near Jama Masjid (since 1913). Street chaat is best at UPSC-famous Bittoo Tikki Wala.

⚠ Watch out

Tuk-tuk and taxi drivers claiming "your hotel is closed / the tourist office moved" then redirecting you to a commission shop is Delhi's classic scam. Ignore anyone at New Delhi station offering "official" help.

When to go

October, February, March are the best months for Delhi — the climate is at its best and crowds haven't peaked. Avoid May–June (45°C heat) and July–August (monsoon humidity).
